Preview/Setup: Date Farmers – “Strange Fruit” @ Fifty24SF

Following last month’s sold out show by El Mac, FIFTY24SF returns with another solid show, “Strange Fruit” by the Date Farmers.  AM swung by the gallery to check out the installation; consisting of a variety of mixed media pieces, “Strange Fruit” is looking to be another great show by Lynzy and Upper Playground, opening tonight. Setup: Shawn Barber – “Tattooed Portraits: Snapshots” @ Shooting Gallery

Yesterday, AM had the pleasure of visiting Shawn Barber as he was putting on the final touches of his solo show “Tattooed Portraits: Snapshots” at San Francisco’s Shooting Gallery (teased). Shawn’s still life paintings and overall representation of tattoo culture look even more impressive in person. The show opens tonight, Saturday the 15th, and we for one can’t wait to check it out in it’s entirety. Process and installation pics after the jump.

Preview/Setup: Stella Im Hultberg – “Memento Mori” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) opens her solo show “Memento Mori” (previewed) at Thinkspace Gallery this Friday, July 10th. AM dropped by the gallery and caught Stella working on what’s shaping up to be an impressive mural and we were also lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the wide variety of work she produced for this show. Preview/Setup: EINE – “The A – Z of Change” @ Carmichael Gallery

AM swung by the Carmichael Gallery in West Hollywood today to meet the legendary UK street artist EINE. It was a pleasure meeting the man behind so many amazing street pieces the world over. Preview/Setup: “Willoughby Windows” presented by Ad Hoc Art

Twelve different storefronts from 89 to 106 Willoughby Street in Brooklyn are being transformed by over fifteen artists as part of the “Willoughby Windows” project. Presented by Ad Hoc Art in conjunction with the MetroTech Business Improvement District, the exhibition showcases the beautification project in place to bring life to the twelve empty storefronts on this block. Washington, D.C. got hit with a taste of urban art this past weekend thanks to the Irvine Contemporary, who held a group show and street/studio experience that featured artists: Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Dalek, Gaia, Imminent Disaster, Oliver Vernon, EVOL and Pisa 73. Setup: AJ Fosik and Greg Gossel @ Shooting Gallery and White Walls

AM swung by White Walls and The Shooting Gallery yesterday to say hi to AJ Fosik and Greg Gossel (interviewed) who are both busy installing their new solo shows in preparation for tonight’s opening. AM stopped by the Carmichael Gallery to check out the progress of Israeli street artist Know Hope’s first Los Angeles solo debut “the times won’t save you (this rain smells of memory)” (teased) opening tomorrow, Thursday, June 4th. Conor Harrington Mural for “Chasing Castles” @ Kinsey/DesForges Gallery

With their “Chasing Castles” dual-exhibition (previewed) opening at Kinsey/DesForges in a few hours, Conor Harrington and Chloe Early (interviewed) are taking in the Los Angeles sunshine while working on one last surprise for their fans this side of the pond. AM caught up with Harrington as he was putting up a massive mural on the second story wall outside the gallery while Early provided artistic input and support.
