MOCA Presents “Rebel” @ 941 N. Highland Avenue

This past weekend, MOCA presented Rebel, an exhibition conceived by James Franco and also including Douglas Gordon, Harmony Korine, Damon McCarthy, Paul McCarthy, Terry Richardson, Ed Ruscha, and Aaron Young. Basel Week Miami ’11: Rubell Family Collection

One of the most prestigious private showings at Art Basel Miami Week every year is from the Rubell Family Collection. A couple weeks back, the Artists for Haiti benefit auction racked in massive numbers to a standing room only, celebrity studded audience at Christie’s Rockefeller Center salesroom in New York. As they did at Art Basel Switzerland, Hauser & Wirth brought some spectacular Paul McCarthy pieces to share with the Art Basel Miami Beach attendees.  Luckily, they also exhibited works by other artists in their esteemed program, including Louise Bourgeois, Martin Creed, Subodh Gupta, Mary Heilmann, Roni Horn, Bharti Kher, John McCracken, Joan Mitchell, Roman Signer and Monika Sosnowska. Basel Week Switzerland ’10 – Paul McCarthy @ Hauser & Wirth

Hauser & Wirth’s booth at Art Basel features a brand new body of work by highly respected artist Paul McCarthy.  The works are sculptural versions of work explored by the artist in his White Snow exhibition and features the dwarfs from, surprisingly, Snow White. They are made of various colored silicone and are unmistakeably McCarthy-esque. A set of these are rumored to be priced at $3million and a single dwarf is a more affordable $750,000.
