Last weekend in Los Angeles, alongside Robert Williams’ amazing new exhibition (covered), a group show celebrating 20 years of Juxtapoz also opened to the public. Curated by Andrew Hosner from Thinkspace and Gary Pressman from Copro Gallery, the showing featured artists, emerging and established, who have graced the pages of the trailblazing magazine. Openings: Pose & “Hello Kitty, Hello Art” @ Known Gallery

On Saturday night, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles hosted a private release party for Hello Kitty, Hello Art!, a book compiling artwork inspired by Sanrio characters. In association with this event, a group show featuring works from 64 Colors, AIKO, Caia Koopman, DABS MYLA, Kenton Parker, Niagara, Shepard Fairey, Simone Legno, RISK, Adam Wallacavage was on display as each artist chose different characters to render in their own typical fashion. Fresh off the clamoring success of Sanrio’s 50th Anniversary bash in Southern California, Small Gift Los Angeles (covered), the art exhibition and pop-up store tag team celebration will be traveling down to South Beach next week to coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach. As the cornerstone of the touring event, 50 internationally-recognized artists were selected by curator R. Rock Enterprises to create original works in their signature medium, showcasing their favorite Sanrio characters within an 8,000 square foot custom space in the Wynwood Arts District. […]
