Previews: Kent Williams – “Bones With Flesh” @ EVOKE Contemporary

Following up on a show at EVOKE Contemporary back in 2013 (covered), Kent Williams will be opening another solo tonight (September 25th) at the New Mexico showpace. Entitled Bones With Flesh, the new body of work includes some exquisite oil painting as well as some looser studies on paper. The subject matter centers on the Los Angeles-based artist’s mastery of the human form but also superimposed over these skills are more abstract elements throughout the composition. On October 4th, the Evoke Contemporary in New Mexico will be presenting a new solo exhibition from Kent Williams. Streets: Shepard Fairey (New Mexico)

Shepard Fairey was recently invited to the Santa Fe University of Art and Design to do a lecture as part the school’s Artists for Positive Social Change series. Of course while there, Mr. Obey decided to create a mural for his fans in New Mexico. Considering the venue, Shep decided to get up with a pro-art, anti-war piece.
