Previews: Brendan Monroe – “Blobography” @ Heath Ceramics (Los Angeles)

In another collaboration (see McFetridge here)  that makes sense for both parties, Heath Ceramics in Los Angeles will be presenting a show from Brendan Monroe (interviewed) early next month. Blobography will feature organic sculptural forms from the Bay Area-based artist, which have always been an extension of his science-influenced imagery. Upcoming: Hideaki Kawashima – “Back And Forth” @ Richard Heller Gallery

This Saturday (October 18), the Richard Heller Gallery all be hosting the second solo showing from Hideaki Kawashima in the United States (see 2011). Entitled Back And Forth, the new body of work includes portraits of boys and girls, familiar to those who saw his last show although presented in a simpler more raw form in this new exhibition. Also, to round out the show, the Tokyo-based artist has included a new “head” series of paintings. Now showing through October 25th at the Hannah Hoffman Gallery in Los Angeles is a new body of work from Sam Falls, whose sculptural pieces were also recently displayed MetroTech Center in Brooklyn (covered). What interests fans of this young LA-based artist with a rising star is not just the imagery he produces but his methodology behind it. Streets: D*Face / Branded Arts (Los Angeles)

Before leaving Los Angeles, UK native D*Face (interviewed) decided to create one more mural for his fans to add to the piece (covered) on the side of the building that that housed his popup show (covered). Mirroring one of the originals that was featured in his exhibition, the new image shows one of his characters looking into the rear-view mirror as he’s driving down a lonely stretch of road.
