Upcoming: Audrey Kawasaki – “Interlude” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Fans of Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) may want to plan ahead to her next solo show coming up soon in Los Angeles. Opening on November 12th (alongside Stella Im Hultberg) at Thinkspace Gallery, her new body of work will be entitled Interlude, sure to feature her beautifully rendered sensual women with expert use of the wood grains in the painting surface. Streets: Sage Vaughn (Los Angeles)

Recently in Los Angeles, on the border of Tarzana and Reseda, Sage Vaughn painted a mural on a side of a new structure on Ventura Blvd. The wall features a large-scale rendition of the locally-based artist’s instantly recognizable Wildflowers imagery, sprinkled with some mushrooms and other wildlife. Openings: Allison Sommers & Ozabu – “Bruxism” & “彷徨 (Wander)” @ Thinkspace

A couple weekends ago, Allison Sommers (interviewed) & Ozabu opened their shows at Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City. Bruxism in the main space was an immersive solo from Sommers featuring her increasingly abstracted meaty subject matter at times housed in various paraphernalia, completed by an installation that was like a record of how the new pieces were conceived and completed. Previews: Deth P. Sun – “Hocus Pocus” @ Giant Robot 2

This Saturday, October 1st, Giant Robot 2 will be opening a new show from Deth P. Sun entitled Hocus Pocus. On view through October 19th will be more of his acrylic on wood paintings featuring his beloved cat adventurer. Along with vivid colors and renderings of lush flora, the whimsical pieces from Sun feature his character shrunk down in size in comparison to his surroundings while on its explorations. On the 1st of October, Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles will be opening a new solo from Martin Wittfooth (interviewed) entitled Archaic Revival. Last month in Culver City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a new mural near the always busy 10 Freeway (seen best as you drive by the 10 freeway headed east passing Robertson Blvd) entitled Lovestruck. The British artist was in town to support the 10 year Anniversary Show at Corey Helford Gallery but took the time to leave something for his fans in the greater LA area. On September 16th, Mark Dean Veca (interviewed) will be opening a two person show (along with Kiel Johnson) in Los Angeles at JAUS. Veca will be contributing some acrylic on canvas works that take his signature pop culture inspired imagery for a twirl.
