After a close look at the creation of three murals (Eine, Miss Van, Maya Hayuk) for the Coney Art Walls, we now have an recap of the event for you to enjoy. Rewind: July 29 – Aug 4

Another week, another Rewind feature here on AM. In our last article, we shared the trailer for JAY Z’s new video where he performed Picasso Baby, a new track off his new album at the Pace Gallery – now we have the entire video. The long session lasted six hours where the rapper showed his appreciation for art through his lyrics, name dropping left and right. You decide whether it was a “performance art film” as it was billed, but also check out all the artists that […]

Openings: ‘Word Play’ @ Design Matters

A little while back we brought you a preview of some of the work for Word Play, hosted at Design Matters Gallery in Los Angeles. The premise of the exhibition excited us as the curated theme was based around text within art. Ben Venom (above), Shawn Huckins, Greg Lamarche, Gregory Siff, Meg Hitchcock, Meryl Pataky, and RERO all contributed […]

Openings: Greg Lamarche – “Timeless” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

AM recently attended the opening for Greg Lamarche’s solo exhibition at the Joshua Liner Gallery. Entitled Timeless, this show brought together numerous elements of Greg’s style of deconstructing and reassembling text and graphics into a new visual language. As we’ve seen in the past like our studio visit to his New York laboratory, Greg dipped into his private stock of archived clippings which he has compiled over a lifetime to transform simple fonts & vintage papers into a masterful geometric visuals. This show runs until October 27th, so stop […]

Openings: “Space//Form” @ Breeze Block Gallery (Part 2)

Following directly on from Part 1 of our coverage of the busy Space//Form opening, AM now delves a little deeper pictorially into the artwork created for this huge group exhibition of 110 artists with a series of pictures where the art is more viewable (like the Mark Dean Veca installation above). To recap, all of the participating artists were given an identical 10×10 inch cradled timber panel by exhibition sponsor Ampersand as the medium to work on. The exhibition curator, Arrested Motion’s Sven Davis chose a brief […]

The artists were each given the same brief and the same materials to work with and asked to explore and represent their interpretation of space and form within either the natural or built environment. Each piece of […]
