Openings: “Flourish” @ Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Over the weekend, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona hosted the opening of Flourish, a group show curated by Thinkspace Gallery. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition but the standouts for us were the murals from Esao Andrews and Nosego as well as a sweet hanging installation from Felipe Pantone. Releases: Eine – “The Missing Letter” Sculptural Edition

Fluorescent Smogg recently released a series of sculptural editions from Eine, their second collaboration with the British street artist on three-dimensional representations of his famous letters. The hand cast concrete sculpture is produced in a run of 10 in four unique color ways (light blue, saffron yellow, light green, light pink) plus a handfinished special edition, £575.00 & £875.00 respectively. Entitled The Missing Letter to reference the fact that Eine’s alphabet canvases sometimes omit the letter ‘W’, these can be added to your collection by heading here. Discuss Eine here.

Recap: Rose Beton Festival (Toulouse)

Curated by Tilt, the second edition of the Rose Beton Festival in Toulouse (FR) paid tribute to the graffiti scene. The festival kicked off with an exhibition at Chateau d’Eau featuring the iconic photographs by Martha Cooper  & Henry Chalfont (interviewed) as well as emerging photographer Sylvain Fargot. The Musee des Abattoirs is then taken over with installations by Boris Tellegen (covered), Mist, and Craig Costello while Tilt brought back his Voyage Retour car installation that he created during his recent residency at Jardin Rouge in Marrakech. Ending today at 5 pm (EST) is the Artists for Humanity auction at Paddle8 to benefit the project of the same name in Boston seeking to provide underserved youth with exposure and employment in the arts. It’s time we do another summary of public art from around the globe with another Street World Roundup feature. Leading things off is an impressive new anamorphic mural from eL Seed that covers almost 50 buildings in the neighborhood of Manshiyat Nasr in Cairo, Egypt. Streets: Eine (Santa Ana)

A couple months ago in Santa Ana, California, Ben Eine painted a mural utilizing his signature text-based imagery with the words “Suenos Revolucionarios” or “Revolutionary Dreams.” Arranged by Marcas Gallery, the piece was considered by the British artist as one of his best walls in the last few years and it’s not hard to see why. The always outspoken Ben Eine did his part to help paint Coney Island every color in the rainbow. The British born artist, now residing in San Francisco, recently made his way out east to participate in the Coney Art Walls project curated by Jeffrey Deitch.
