Streets: Push (Huntington Beach)

With the US Open of Surfing opening tomorrow in sunny Southern California, Push was commissioned to paint some murals for Converse. This piece was painted at Livery Design Gruppe in Huntington Beach featuring some of the MSK-affiliated writer’s signature patterns and colors. Streets: Desordes Creativas Festival (Part I) – Blu

We haven’t heard much from Blu (since April in Morocco), but it looks like the the Italian street savant has made the short trip over to Spain recently for the Desordes Creativas Festival. Set in the town of Ordes, the has a nice lineup of participants including Ericailcane, Liqen, Sam3 and more. For now, check out this amazing new wall from Blu featuring a horde of vegetables jumping into a blender, painted with some of his his signature dark humor. Tipped off by Savage Habit. Releases: Futura x Hennessy VS Bottle Chase Pack @ Reed Space

Last night, Hennessy held a preview launch at New York’s Reed Space for their latest VS cognac bottle designed by Futura (seen here). This pop up event was announced via Hennessy’s twitter and exclusive to only the first 50 fans arriving at the location. The line was long, but worth the wait as each fan (over 21) was given a special Hennessy gift pack containing a signed bottle by the graffiti legend himself. Streets: Phlegm (New York)

Sheffiield-based street muralist Phlegm recently made a trip out to New York and it looks like he brought along instruments of his trade as he put up multiple murals in Manhattan at the Fulton housing project on West 17th. Featuring his intricate imagery, the pieces follow his characters as they handle enigmatic and complex contraptions and gadgets. Jen Stark for “40 Under 40: Craft Futures” @ Smithsonian

Expert paper sculpture artisan Jen Stark recently had one of her pieces acquired by the Smithsonian American Art Museum for their permanent collection. The psychedelic multicolored piece which looks like it is dripping down the wall is entitled Power of Being and is part of the 40 Under 40: Craft Futures exhibition currently underway at the Renwick Gallery part of the institution which also includes a piece from Olek (mentioned earlier). Releases: Jeff Soto – “Seeker Friends #5: The Guitarist”

Next Thursday, August 2nd, sees another release from the Seeker Friends series of prints from Jeff Soto (interviewed). The fifth in the line is entitled The Guitarist and again will be sized at 6 x 6″ and cost $25 + shipping with $1 of every sale going to plant one tree through the Plant A Billion Trees program. Streets: World Roundup (July 16 – 22)

Leading off last week’s Streets: World Roundup is this amazing mural (seen above) painted over the course of a year by Josef Kristofoletti. The project was commissioned by the ATLAS Experiment at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and was painted on the side of the ATLAS control room directly above the detector, near the Swiss-French border outside of Geneva by the Texas-based artist.
