Tonight in Seattle, Winston Wächter Fine Art will be opening a solo show from Zaria Forman, who we featured in an Art Focus article earlier this year. The exhibition holds special meaning for the Brooklyn-based artist, as her exquisite paintings will be shown alongside the photographs of her late mother, Rena Bass Forman. The two of them traveled together to see the natural wonders of the world in places like Greenland, Iceland, Patagonia and India, inspiring Zaria’s own interest in documenting disappearing places. Ice to Island features some of the work from a trip she took to honor her mother’s legacy – she states: “Documenting climate change, the work addresses the concept of saying goodbye on scales both global and personal. In Greenland, I scattered my mother’s ashes amidst the melting ice.”
