Last Friday evening at FFDG marked the opening of Dave Kinsey’s first solo show in San Francisco in over a decade (previewed). This longtime Los Angeles artist recently moved away from the city, to a much quieter town near the Sequoia National Forrest and has created a body of work that has become more abstract, but still incorporates his recognizable figurative characters. Lost For Words features a series of textured mixed media works on surfaces that range from canvas pieces with slightly crooked frames (which plays with the linear characteristics of the painting), to works on craft paper that adorn the gallery ceiling.
