"Untitled: Army Men Camouflage" Series, 2007, 4-color silkscreen ink on paper, 48"x48" each

Quickly following in the wake left by Recent Paintings (previewed), which opens this evening, the relentless stream of art events organized by Ryan McGinness for Los Angeles will continue without hesitation tomorrow night, this time spotlighting a series of works on paper. Hosted by Country Club LA, Works on Paper will see the screen-print guru present a collection of new and old pieces, collectively illustrating a subtler, more raw side to the production technique he has come to be renowned for. In conjunction with the exhibition, as well as all the others, Iconoclast Editions has released an offset poster reasonably priced at a penny to commemorate each event (7 in total).  As a nice change of pace from Ryan’s more in your face, hyper-psychedelic work, this show will highlight the artist’s range and dexterity, so be sure to make it one of the many pit stops over the next couple months – with supporting exhibitions with PRISM (teased) and Subliminal Projects (teased) the following weekend – as the New York icon invades The City of Angels.

An extensive preview after the jump.
