Dennis Hopper - Double Standard

The art world is on fire this weekend – so many major shows opening around the world. Los Angeles leads the charge with major solo shows opening this weekend from the likes of Dennis Hopper (MOCA), Natalia Fabia (Corey Helford Gallery), Yosuke Ueno (Thinkspace), Jonathan Yeo (Lazarides), Jim Houser (Subliminal Projects), and Boogie (Carmichael Gallery), not to mention the annual ‘Crazy 4 Cult’ group show at Gallery 1988. Not to be outdone, NYC is host to some major shows this weekend with Josh Liner being the place to be as he plays host to Sylvia Ji’s debut NYC solo show as well as new works from Travis Louie in Gallery II. Get out there and support the arts people!

SFMOMA Garage’s Street-level Windows Installation from Jesse Hazelip
147 Minna and 150 Natoma St. (between Third and New Montgomery Streets) in San Francisco
In conjunction with “Wonderous Strange” at SFMOMA Artist’s Gallery, Jesse Hazelip’s work for this installation involves large scale mixed media pieces on wooden panels, each commenting on contemporary sociopolitical issues in a cause and effect statement. Hazelip’s installation will be up from July 10 – November 13, 2010 and can be seen from the street 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The artist will host an opening reception at The Earth Bar at Temple Nightclub, located at 540 Howard Street on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 2-7PM
