Faile

Faile

It’s been a big couple of months for Faile.  With so much going on, such as their collaborative show with BAST in London and their 10-year retrospective at Lazarides Gallery, AM is still trying to catch up with the scorching hot collective.  We recently made the trip to Beverly Hills to view “Meet Me Inside” (previewed), a group show at Gagosian Gallery, to check out their wood puzzle pieces, as well as other spectacular art work by Gagosian’s A-list artists.

More after the jump…

It is no secret that Larry Gagosian is one of the most powerful men in the art world and Gagosian Gallery is the standard with which all other galleries in the world are measured.  It is a monumental deal that Faile is able to have their pieces included in this group show, showing them in context with artists such as Ed Ruscha and Tom Sachs.  It raises not only their profile and status, but that of the entire urban art scene as a whole.  Those visiting the gallery will be able to view their paintings a few feet from Andy Warhol’s and Mike Kelley’s work.  A big step for a genre that many feel does not get enough respect in the broader contemporary art world.
